Earl Kline

Dr. Earl Kline is professor of manufacturing systems in the Department of Wood Science and Forest Products at Virginia Tech. For over 20 years, he has mentored and taught students preparing them for the next generation of business managers and leaders. Recently, he has been student advisor to the Wood Enterprise Institute (WEI), an experiential learning class where students practice what they learn in an actual manufacturing business environment.

Subjects taught include computer control applications, lean manufacturing, production operations management, and systems engineering design principles. Earl also has extensive R&D experience resulting in over 100 peer reviewed journal papers and popular trade articles in the areas of industrial engineering, process control, and continuous process improvement methods to advance the business of wood products manufacturing.
